AI Transparency & Authorship Statement
This statement exists because authorship matters — and because we expect to be asked how our work is made.
1. Purpose
Artificial Intelligence is used at NullProof Studio as a thinking assistant, not a creative substitute.
AI systems support research, structure, and documentation — never the core act of analogue image creation or destruction.
2. Roles of AI in Studio Practice
3. Data Protection & Ethics
- We do not intentionally enter personal or client data into AI prompts, and we train operators to avoid doing so.
- Where available, we use paid tiers and settings designed to prevent our inputs from being used to train models (subject to the provider’s controls and terms).
- Gemini is used only for non-personal concept research.
- Where providers process data outside the UK, we use appropriate safeguards (such as the UK Addendum/IDTA and/or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable).
4. Accountability & Provenance
Every artefact produced by After-Image follows the Anachrome Protocol:
twelve exposures → one survivor → total destruction of intermediates.
AI systems may help document this ritual but never participate in the act itself.
Final authorship, intent, and destruction are human decisions.
5. Transparency Commitment
We disclose all AI-assisted activity in our public materials and maintain a continuous audit of tools used.
Each new AI system undergoes an internal review for:
- Privacy and data handling
- Creative impact
- Environmental considerations (where information is available)
If any system changes how we operate, this statement will be updated and versioned in the Governance Index.
This statement is provided for transparency and does not form part of any contract unless expressly incorporated into written commission terms.
